SAUCE'D

Like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Frank enters a very special world of aromas of hazelnut and chocolate down an unassuming street in Torino, the chocolate-capital of Italy. Guido Gobino' s family has been making the classic Torinese Gianduiotto for over 300 years. Described as an ancient technique in a fully modern factory, the Guido Gobino headquarters are a foodie's paradise of cocoa beans, cocoa nibs, chocolate liquer, roasted hazelnuts, chocolate ganache, and sea salt. Frankuccio wanders down dark corridors in a roasty haze of delight and gets cheeky with Guido as the two bond over shared passions! Part One of Frank's tour of Piemontese chocolate!

With a magical combination of brash and lyrical, this unpolished "downtown chef" dives in and opens up the heart of Italy with the unflinching romanticism of a classic New York Italian-American.

Frank Prisinzano grew up making pasta at his grandmother's kitchen table in Queens, NY. Now that very table is the premier seat at Frank, his first restaurant in the East Village.

Frank Prisinzano grew up making pasta at his grandmother's kitchen table in Queens, NY. Now that very table is the premier seat at Frank, his first restaurant in the East Village.

Every year, Frank makes a sort of personal pilgrimage back to his ancestral stomping grounds, to refresh his Italian heritage, to rejuvenate his Italian menu, and rediscover the achingly beautiful people and land that created his family legacy.
