This film was the final project for a graduate class under the auspice of Dr. Donna “Ma’D” Souder, ENG-six-hundred and something: “Bible as Literature.” I can hardly say that I was the scriptwriter, since so much of the story is based on Jesus’ visit to the desert where he is tempted, even using direct quotations from the Bible. In addition, it directly acts like the scene from Scorsese’s “Last Temptation of Christ,” where Jesus draws a circle in the sand and is visited by Satan in several different forms: lion, snake, and fire. But this culmination, this accumulative mass of script and story line was an intentional part of the project and a direct result of what was learned in the graduate class: the tales of the Bible are remakes of older, far more ancient tales themselves, which then transpire as tales retold and found scattered throughout modern culture. The way our project here mimics Scorsese, Scorsese’s film mimics Nikos Kazantzakis’ novel (1953), Kazantzakis mimics the Bible,…
So, this was an entry for the 2011 Pueblo Colorado 24 Hour film festival. Does it seem like a lot for 24 hours? Well it was... it was too much. We didn't make the deadline. But, we made an awesome short film. Thank you to the team and everyone who was involved. Please share and post this if you were a part of it. Thank you to Klaypex for allowing me to use their music as the catalyst in the story. Please go to their channel and check them out. They make amazing music. Thanks to Toxiic, Inc. Entertainment for being our very own Go Go Girl, you were amazing. Thank you to Cameron "Professor Phunk" Sanchez for being our DJ you were awesome.
This was shot on the Canon 7d and the 5d. Edited with Final Cut Pro, Special Effects done with After Effects CS5.5
