To start off the second week of SciGirls 2011, Scigirls I traveled to Leon Sinks, just outside of Tallahassee. At Leon Sinks they got to go down into a real sinkhole. They also got to examine bugs that they found under a microscope.

On Day 7 SciGirls visited The Florida State University Campus In Panama city and learned about facial recontruction. After they learned about that they took a model skull and put markers and clay on the skull to show a human face. The markers represented the different depths of parts of the face and the clay represented the skin.

In the second week of the SciGirls Camp, the girls visited WFSU, Tallahassee's PBS affiliate television station and created their very own SciGirls newscast. They also went to the Florida State University campus and visited the Antarctic Marine Geology Research Facility where they learned about Antarctica and the research in core samples done there.

On day four of the 2011 SciGirls Camp, SciGirls II went to Florida's Gulf Coast to visit the FSU Marine Lab. At the Marine Lab, the girls played with fiddler and hermit crabs and learned more about how they live. They also went onto the beach to see these crabs in their natural environment.

SciGirls Camp 2011 is in full swing, and on the third day SciGirls II went to the campus of Florida State University in Tallahassee to visit the FSU High Performance Materials Institute. They got to look at high performance materials close up, learn about their use and even see a unique-looking electric car.
