  1. Eric Rodenbeck spoke at "see conference 2009". The conference on "visualization of information", organized by digital creative agency Scholz & Volkmer, is dedicated to new approaches that are being developed in the fields of design, art, architecture, new technologies and economy to confront today's complexity and to transform the immense flood of information into useable knowledge. We annually invite speakers - a broad mix of approaches, ways of thinking, industries and cultures – to present their most recent ideas on how to deal with the current flood of information, on how to visualize it and turn it into something that can be experienced.

Eric Rodenbeck is founder and creative director of Stamen Design. The San Francisco based agency is specialised in spectacular mapping and data visualisation technologies. In 2006, the agency became famous for its collaboration with the social bookmark service Digg, resulting in visualisation projects such as Digg Labs or Digg Swarm. Their objective is to give community users a real time access to the activities of other Digg members and as a result facilitate a deeper access to information. The agency's expertise is further demonstrated by its large number of research projects, such as the Oakland Crimespotting project which aims to open up new views on criminality in urban areas. Parallel to this, Stamen works for clients such as BMW, Yahoo or the American TV broadcaster MSNBC, for whom they recently developed an interactive hurricane tracker.

In projects such as Ten Thousand Cents and The Sheep Market he focuses on the role of the individual in the digital mass-society. He creates unique visual interpretations of data, such as the House of Cards music video for the rock band Radiohead, in which he scanned the environment with lasers, generating spatial data for an interactive 3D visualization. Aaron studied Design & Media Arts at UCLA and currently works for the Google Creative Lab in San Francisco. His work has been exhibited internationally in exhibitions at the MoMa in New York, Ars Electronica in Linz, and the Science and Technology Museum of Shanghai to name a few.
