SHARING THE FUTURE

  1. This is a test using this 3 tools: Kinect camera, Quartz Composer software and Rutt Etra plugin from v002 . I'm doing my Final Degree Project about Glitch concept and distortion aesthetics applied to design and Vjing, if you want to know my discoveries and process, click to the links below! :)

  2. Critically engaging with the latest developments in wearable technologies, 'Crafting Human Perception' questions the traditional relationship between textile artefacts and the human sensory system. Static surfaces are transformed into interactive haptic membranes, traditionally crafted fabrics are functionally augmented through embedded electronics.

The aim of the project is to extend the natural bandwidth of human perception and to encourage the rediscovery of our own body through touch. When the visitors engage with the crafted surface, they initiate a cognitive feedback loop between the internal systems of touch and hearing. The immersive multi-sensory experience creates an intimate sensual dynamics that heightens both physical and sensory self-awareness.

The materials and craft techniques used in the process are exploited as pure expressive media, their peculiar textural and functional features are augmented through technology. The work aims to define a new hybrid aesthetics that balances tradition and innovation, industrial and organic, permanent and ephemeral qualities.

The artifacts resulting from this process become therefore entities of indefinite nature, relational objects with latent interactive and transformative potential.

  3. A sound installation that generates music in real time from the stock market fluctuations.
It remediates the traditional means of viewing and analysing stock data by turning speculations of money into music.

There is no clear logic as to how the stock market functions. In all this chaos somewhere exists a pattern and an emotional factor still not accounted for. The temporal factor and unpredictability associated with the stock exchange all over the world, inspires curiosity and anticipation. As such the thought of an auditory display that uses dynamically and constantly varying information, manifested in the form of a radio station which tunes into the stock market exchange from all around the world.

The stock market has a tense, strict business feel to it, far flung from the notes of music. Making the twain meet by exploring the ‘unheard’ connections between music and money is an interesting experiment, for the ironic twist that it creates.

  4. Screens are emering in public spaces. Some are big, some even interactive, and they tend to be taking over for traditional poster ads. We’re calling out for dialogue and discussions concerning these screens - because we see both great potential and great threaths.

What content can we allow, how little does it take before screens become a source of visual noise that you’re unwillingly exposed to in the city? Can we allow big screens on every corner? Can screen ads be comfortable? What can interactivity bring to table to make ads behave nice? The existing ads we found in our research were noisy and overwhelming. We wanted to see what we could do in the other end of the scale...

This is a student project by Magnus Trevisan Kjeldsen & Aleksander Imset Wassum, MA students of interaction design at Oslo School of Architecture and Design. Please note that this is not an official collaboration wth Zara.
