The Staffordshire Hoard is the largest hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold and silver metalwork yet found. Discovered in a field near the village of Hammerwich, near Lichfield, in Staffordshire, England on 5 July 2009, it consists of more than 1,500 items that are nearly all martial in character.

After the Staffordshire Hoard was declared treasure and valued at £3.285 million, a huge fundraising campaign to save the hoard for the nation was mounted by the Art Fund on behalf of local, regional and national partners.

The Hoard was acquired by Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery and Stoke Museums in partnership. Pieces can be seen on display in BMAG and Stoke and some of the key artefacts will go on tour to Lichfield, Tamworth and Stafford in the summer of 2011.

Research and conservation of the Hoard is on going. Conservation is taking place at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and the Hoard conservation team are filming regular short video blogs to show the work that they're doing. These and other Hoard related videos will feature on this channel.
