FUTURE PROOF is a short film developed for the 2011 A/NZ PromaxBDA Conference. Essentially a labour of love for DMCI creative director Nathan Drabsch, this performance piece continues to be admired throughout the world.
The response to this emotive piece, still amazes us. Since launch FUTURE PROOF has been selected for various film and digital media festivals and showcases throughout the world.
The only boundary to the project was the theme of FUTURE PROOF. The development of the film started with an approach that aimed to focus not on futuristic notions but consideration of that which is timeless. People, the expression of self and the interactions between each other are timeless qualities relevant to creativity, no matter what the future holds.
The concept started quite fluidly, by briefing a variety of dancers, with individual performance styles, to develop choreography based on the concepts of growth, sharing, sending and receiving.
Directed by Nathan Drabsch, the performances were shot over one day using two RED Epic cameras, capturing the action at high speed. All design, editing and post production was done in-house by The DMCI team. We worked closely with composers and audio designers Mark Brandis & Jeff Black from ism studios, to create a unique score that perfectly compliments the performances.
As a whole, the focus is on the dancers as they create and interact with abstract forms in a vast unknown world. Their own movements determine the creation and final destruction of these elements. Their own paths of communication and creative expression have come full circle, and all that remains is the individual.

The DMC Initiative developed this series of IDs for Australian Television Channel, FOX CLASSICS.
FOX CLASSICS showcases classic films, and the ID series was designed to take viewers on a guessing game journey through the world of classic cinema. Each spot sticks to the channel brand with the aim of guiding the channel into a new phase of sophistication.
Each ID interprets a series of films, merging them together through iconic design and audio.

The DMCI worked with major US broadcaster CBS on a series of new season promo IDs dubbed the 'CBS Eyecon Image Campaign'.
CBS turned to DMCI after seeing our spots for FOX CLASSICS and were inspired to develop something similar for the launch of their summer season programming. A bold, new direction for the CBS brand, the spots which feature iconic animated illustrations of programmes such as Big Bang Theory, NCIS, CSI and 2 And A Half Men, were deemed risky for the American market. But based upon the campaigns rapturous reception within CBS and the subsequent on-air campaign launch, the fears would seem extremely misplaced.
The campaign, presented first internally at season launch events at the MOMA and Carnegie Hall (NYC), received an overwhelmingly positive response. CBS Director of On-Air promotion, Sarah LaBrache mentioned, "The Eyecon Piece was a HUGE success… there has been a buzz within the company and in addition to (NCIS actress) Pauly Perette's tweet, the piece has also gotten nice write-ups in various press."
We created a 60 second, two 30 second and ten 10 second animations showcasing the best of the new season CBS lineup. The spots were created using a combination of 2D and 3D animation.

The DMCI was awarded the project to create a series of internationally broadcast IDs and Bugs for Nickelodeon. Based on the seasons – Christmas, Valentines Day, Easter, Spring and Summer – the Ids are fun little snippets based around the Nickelodeon Logo.
The first 5 Ids launched earlier in 2012, with Spring and Summer only just released.
