i miss my dear friend final cut. i miss the way you let me adjust the cross fade duration, resize, align and layer images and even adjust opacity. alas. pretend the end bit looks like you are seeing, in the reflection of the discoball mirror, our family making this very Christmas card movie and it will all make sense….well maybe not ALL.
This is a short (VERY short) animated nursery rhyme I completed after a bit of inspiration I got from a student of mine in October 2008. The class project was to explore staging using paper cutout animation with nursery rhymes as the basis. This one seemed perfectly matched for the task but I couldn't figure out an ending in the shot sequence. It seemed incomplete until a high school sophomore commented that, given the circumstances, we'd probably be drinking ink...you'll have to watch the animation to get it.
It's funny how teaching a digital animation class has gotten me so enthused about stop-motion.
I'm probably going to re-dub this piece with better equipment. The cuts with this track sound a little weird and since it's so short, I've been finding the rough sound less than charming.
