On July 25, 2012 Governor Jerry Brown and representatives from the Federal government announced their intent to build a massive construction project to be known as the Peripheral Tunnels. The tunnels would be underground to move water from the Sacaramento River around the Delta to the pumps in Tracy. The water would be used for agribusiness on the West side of the Central Valley, and moved South to Kern County and Southern California.

This Salmon Water Now channel has video new coverage of that day's announcement and the protests help against the proposal.
