    The Summer Spectacular

Labyrinths, A-Bombs, wings, wax, the internet, the sun and overzealous despots. Oh my.

Jacob Zimmer and Small Wooden Shoe return to the Toronto Fringe Festival – this time in a park – with giant puppets, miniature vistas and performers Christopher Stanton, Georgina Beaty and Liz Peterson; collaborators Susanna Fournier, Leora Morris, Michaud Garneau, Vicki Hargraeves, Ella Batten, Jesse Watts, Castleview Wychwood Towers, teams of volunteer paper-machers’ and more.

We’re making a show that brings our interests in science, history and internet into the bright daylight of outdoor theatre.

The story we’ll tell weaves the mythic, historic and local into a walking tour of Frankel Lampert Park (just north of Dupont on Christie.

The Fun Palace Radio Variety Show is a series of live-to-tape podcast variety shows, hosted by Jacob Zimmer with the Fun Palace Players and lots of special guests.

We are raising the money to own the means of production!

Owning the means of production (in this case microphones and recording gear) means that the money we make can be distributed to the people doing the labour.

(Yes, Marxists can have sponsors too.)

Owning the means of production for the Fun Palace will help us to these crucial things:
    - Pay artists.
    - Create and rehearse anytime with microphones
    - Perform whenever and where ever we wish to on a drop of a dime.
    - Create more podcasts.
    - Host workshops with the mics and gear to teach people how to make their own idiosyncratic performance podcasts…

…because we believe that good ideas are entertaining. And that pleasure and critique require each other.

In addition to our thanks, you will receive a charitable receipt for your taxes.

If you’d like your name carved on a microphone, you can - for the cost of the mic* we will forever call the mic after your first name, or the first name of someone in your life.

  5. Leora has been a crucial and incredible part of Small Wooden Shoe for the past 3+ years – working with me on Life of Galileo and Antigone Dead People, singing in the 3penny Christmas Concert, curating and doing the heavy lifting on this season of Difficult Plays, being a sounding board and (most importantly) a friend.

I will miss her and know that she’s going to rock the Ivy League. And I am not letting her off the hook for coming back in the summers to work with us again.
