Team Rubicon bridges the critical time gap between large humanitarian disasters and conventional aid response. We provide vanguard medical care by fielding small, self-sustaining, mobile teams of specially skilled first-responders. To deploy rapidly, we rely heavily on a horizontal command structure, social networking technology, and the employment of local nationals.
Teams of Team Rubicon volunteers stood ready to deploy along the NE coast in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Irene. The storm's initial destruction was thankfully within the resources and response of emergency agencies, and TR stood down. But a piece of intel came in from the small town of Hollywood, MD. A powerful and destructive weather event (either an extremely violent downburst or a tornado - the residents have conflicting theories) wreaked…
TR was asked to aid in an 'unofficial' Search and Rescue in the small City of Duquesne on the eastern border of Joplin. The area, less densely populated and directly in the path of destruction, was receiving little aid. TR was happy to have been able to help the people of Duquesne in this search.
TEAM RUBICON met up with recon members already on site today and got to work immediately before another storm system moved across Joplin. In February Team Rubicon returned from Southern Sudan where we helped fulfill a peace initiative between warring tribes by supplying medical supplies, equipment and services to the region's clinics and ailing population.
