After Fargo Bishop Samuel Aquila was named Archbishop of Denver on May 29, 2012, Bismarck Bishop David Kagan was named apostolic administrator for the Fargo Diocese on July 18, 2012. Bishop Kagan served both the Bismarck and Fargo dioceses until a new bishop was named.
