The album is the latest step for the band who over the last few years have truly emerged onto a higher stage... bigger and better tours, triumphant festival slots, recording at Peter Gabriel’s Real World studios, artwork designed by Storm Thorgerson and new management all give the sense of act who are destined for greater things.
Much of this is down to the band’s 2010 album, Someone Here Is Missing, and the reaction it received. While this release, along with 2008’s Tightly Unwound, was many people’s introduction to the band they have actually spent the past ten years quietly building up a dedicated fan base across the globe, selling over 50,000 records and nurturing their ‘bittersweet’ progressive sound.

All The Wars marks another leap in the band’s progression, as frontman Bruce Soord continues to mature as a songwriter and the band’s ever growing confidence and status allows them to move in bold musical directions, including the use of a 22-piece string section and a choir. Soord explains, ‘no expense has been spared regarding the production of this record but at its heart it’s still a rock record. It’s very heavy in parts and very delicate and beautiful in others.’

Following Storm Thorgerson's cover for Someone Here Is Missing, the artwork for this album features images created by the award winning photographer Mark Mawson as part of his Aqueous series. Shots from the Aqueous project were recently projected onto Buckingham Palace as the background to Paul McCartney's performance of Magical Mystery Tour during the diamond jubilee celebrations.

The Limited 2CD digibook edition with bonus disc featuring exclusive acoustic versions of tracks from the album plus a 2012 version of ‘Light Up Your Eyes’.

  3. 2010 was a landmark year for The Pineapple Thief. The band released their latest album, the critically acclaimed Someone Here Is Missing (‘extremely classy and frequently mesmerising’ Classic Rock), along with the Show A Little Love EP (‘it is here that the real magic of a band like TPT shines through’ Classic Rock Prog) and followed a string of festival performances with a European tour.

While these releases, along with 2008’s Tightly Unwound, were many people’s introduction to the band they have actually spent the past ten years quietly building up a dedicated fan base across the globe, selling over 25,000 records and nurturing their ‘bittersweet’ progressive sound. This release is the second in a series of re-mastered reissues from the band’s back catalogue.

Variations on a Dream was the band’s third studio album and was originally released in 2004 on the Cyclops label. Bruce has re-mixed and re-mastered the album for this Kscope edition. It is also presented in the same way as the originally limited double album release with the 8 Days album (limited to 1000 copies and never released separately) on CD2.

  5. The new album from The Pineapple Thief. Artwork by Storm Thorgerson (Pink Floyd, MUSE, Biffy Clyro).

Someone Here is Missing, the latest album from The Pineapple Thief, came third in Classic Rock’s Prog Album of the Year poll. The high finish caps a triumphant year for the band which has seen them release their new album and embark on a succession of successful gigs.

Someone Here is Missing is: “A record of dark edges, full of love and regret, my life in the last eighteen months pretty much,” according to singer/songwriter Bruce Soord. It also happens to be their best yet.

A decade after they began and The Pineapple Thief are set to become your favourite new band.

Someone Here is Missing is: “A record of dark edges, full of love and regret, my life in the last eighteen months pretty much,” according to singer/songwriter Bruce Soord. It also happens to be their best yet.

With 2008’s acclaimed Tightly Unwound album – which launched the renowned Kscope label – the band suddenly found themselves celebrated at both home and abroad. “Everything was suddenly in place for us to move on to the next level as a band,” says Soord, “We just had to make a great record, no pressure then…”

It’s the album that Soord’s most proud of and so he should be. Storm Thorgerson (Pink Floyd, Muse, Biffy Clyro) is already a fan. So much so that he created the album cover. A happy accident mean that Kscope’s designer met Storm at an exhibition and asked if he’d work with a band with big ideas but who had yet to make their mark on the world. If, conceded the artist, I like their music.

“He sat us down and asked exactly what the songs were about,” says Soord about Storm, “Then he gave us six sketch ideas, but the one we wanted couldn’t be done as it meant digging a huge hole in a field, but no farmer would let us do it, but I prefer this one, even though Storm’s against putting bands on the cover he even let me be on it. Not that you’ll recognise me.”

With festivals and a full tour planned for later in the year and the best album of their careers under their belt, The Pineapple Thief are taking things as they’ve always done; slowly. Which is why it’ll come as even more of a surprise when they steal your heart away.
