Conceptually Episode 15 was a reaction to both internal and external influences - a statement on the growing trend of plastic surgery for vanity in young women in Iceland and the damage which has occurred from it. The piece focuses on a group of female creatures who have been self mutilating and their capture of a young victim enticed to join them.
In order to focus on directing, this is the first piece Kitty did not take part in. The story orientated shot list, 3 cameras plus shooting in multiple locations throughout the day demanded more from her behind the camera than previously.
The performance was much harder and more brutal for the participating women and for Kitty herself as a director. The cast and crew consisted of 60 people and the location was an old fishmeal factory, extremely cold, foul smelling and damp. The women's boundaries and self acceptance were pushed until they were raw so that the element of the piece could be…

During a trip to Shanghai Kitty was provided support by Converse China to produce a photographic Episode within a 7 day turnaround. This was an exploration of how the Chinese women reacted to the principle of the Project and let go of their boundaries and reservations. It was a completely different experience for Kitty, both in the methods to get the women to let go and the challenge to direct with language difficulties. It was an incredibly gratifying experience. This was a test run for a series to take place during 2012 in various locations around China.
This was a screening at Iceland Airwaves 2011. It introduces the outline of The Project. This is just the interview.

American/Swedish solo artist Elodie (Elissa Björke) approached Kitty for a collaboration due to an interest in what The Weird Girls Project stood for. Contrasting the cinematic surroundings and contact with nature in the previous episode, Kitty worked together with Arnar Valdimarsson to utilize technology for the concept on Episode 14. Kitty had an ongoing intrigue with infinity mirrors and initially began investigating using actual mirrors…
Episode 13 of The Weird Girls Project took place in volcano hit Þórsmörk and surrounding areas, producing a piece for Imogen Heap's Love the Earth score. Imogen gave Kitty two musical pieces and so the Episode is in two parts.
Kitty had wanted to work in Þórsmörk for several years but the costs of specialised transport made it unattainable. Following a fundraiser through the Kickstarter.com website the Project gained sponsorship from both Hostelling International Iceland and Reykjavík Excursions to enable the location to be possible. Pegasus also part sponsored the equipment which enabled Kitty to use the best available film equipment.
This Episode was gifted with perfect weather and the cast and crew of 36 were taken on a truly grueling day's filming. The experience was very emotional for all the women involved and it was referred to as a magical moment in their lives.
Part I is filmed around the stunning waterfall Seljalandsfoss and was incredibly difficult to film both from an equipment…
