2011 Turkish Festival featured a rich mixture of performances, mouth watering Turkish food, and a potpourri of cultural and touristic exhibitions. This year’s special event was the declaration of Ankara and Washington DC to be city papers. Ankara’s Mayor Melih Gocek and Washington DC’s Vincent Gray signed the agreement in front of an enthusiastic throng of festival goers.

Well known musician Ferhat Gocer sang the Turkish and American national anthems before dignitaries including Turkish Ambassador Namik Tan and his wife. Gocer put on a spirited performance despite drizzly rain and chilly temperatures.

Turkish American Hour was a proud sponsor of this colorful event.
