    UWR WEEK 52 - ONE YEAR TODAY!!

    One year ago the team won an award which kickstarted this project. Since then we have scripted 5 short films set underwater, learnt to dive, shot in Shepperton Studios, auditioned underwater, filmed on Red Epic in the Red Sea, raised $101,000 on the internet and are still going!! There's a long way to go yet but this is going to be an incredibly exciting year as we prepare to show the world the Underwater Realm www.theunderwaterrealm.com

    UWR Week 51 - Production Meeting

    The whole team come together at Realm HQ to plan the next 6 months of production. Whilst listening to the work of Rob Westwood (http://soundcloud.com/robwestwood/2-880-fathoms) we dicussed the Atlantean history and culture, planned principle photography and tested the pyrotechnics for a canon!!     This week the team met Philip Bloom at his fantastic workshop in London and got the chance to say thank you in person to a few of our backers who attended. The Underwater Realm is a series of 5 short films set entirely underwater. Using unique film-making techniques specifically developed for this project the team of volunteers aims to bring the fascinating world of our oceans to the cinema and inspire people to think more about the life within them.

We are attempting something that has never been done before – and we are attempting it with a very small budget. The film will use a variety of techniques from underwater photography to wire-rigs, digital clothing and set extensions. This blog will follow us on our journey as we struggle with the challenge of pre-production. It will be on set with us every day during production, and it will keep you up to date with all the hard work and rewards of post-production.
