CraigWerth.com is a great multi-instrumentalist singer songwriter, here again on Bouzouki doing a good portion of his tune "My Way or the Highway" for the Portland, Maine listeners, on his recent visit to WMPG.org 's Us Folk November 23rd.
Craig is a great picker, writer, arranger, singer now touring with David Francey for the last year
( DavidFrancey.com ) he continues to write and perform his own work as well as his collaborations with David and others.
We've been in touch on and off for years, it's great to see his musical life take off , this tune will be included on a near future CD release.
His album "Loose Gems" is certainly worthy of listens.
Craig Werth ( Http://www.CraigWerth.com ) was the third guest of the day on Us Folk, he played the show a couple of times and this time coming back as a full time pro touring with Canadian singer songwriter David Francey ( DavidFrancey.com ) (for the last year), which for him is a dream come true.
Craig is not only a great singer-songwriter but a great arranger / composer.
This tune is from a powerful reflective moment prior to his touring with David and making huge changes in his life, like leaving a stable secure work situation to become a touring professional musician. The tune will be on an upcoming recording from Craig's possibly next Spring.
This portion leaves out the front 20 + seconds of the tune and was performed on his wife's birthday November 23rd.
Happy Birthday Liz great to see you!
note; sound is sound board out synched to clip & posted with the permission of the artist.
Joel Eckhaus was the first guest of three on the show this "Black Friday" (Nov 23rd) . Joel is a longtime performer playing the Ukulele and saws under various monikers he is also a very creative and well respected luthier.
Joel and five or so other performers are doing a vaudvillian-style "Leftover Turkey Variety Show" both in Portland and Buckfield, Maine Fri and Sat nights.
A show whose genesis some 25 years ago was in the minds of a group of world class performers post "turkey-day" and the now tradition has evolved among these artists who continue to reside here in Maine.
Joel is among them, btw; if you are in the market for an exceptionally crafted Ukulele he's the man.
Om Rasa "appeared" on the show recently. OmRasa.com A duo comprised of David Pontibriand on sitar and Shawn P. Russell on percussion, released their debut disc this week with a show and several radio appearances. David has long taught & played classical sitar here in New England, based out of Portland. In partnership with percussionist Shawn Russell they depart the classical to work an improvisational volley.
(note the instrument Shawn plays is a simple ONE jingle 8inch frame drum Yet it sounds like more than just a "few" drums surround him.
Their disc is a stunner, well worth the wait many have asked David for for many years and certainly impetus to record more @ OmRasa.com
recorded in Portland @ the Studio.
