The climate change fund is quite significant to Bangladesh regarding the aspects of Bangladesh, being one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change risk factors, like floods, cyclones etc.
And, above all Bangladesh is a disaster prone country.
Most of the projects taken in hand by the government at the coastal areas after the super cyclones Sidr and Aila, didn't come into effect. Government already completed 2003 houses (brick and cement) to support the shelter. Ironically only four pillars with a rooftop and a floor have been constructed at each houses, which is a vain process for the people who are the extreme sufferers.
At the end of the day, the people living there, couldn't get rid of the risk factor and still remain under the vulnerable group.
At Patuakhali, to construct a river dam, government allocated 110 million and 80 million taka was already spent behind the project. However, at one stage, the research finds that to complete the rest of the work, 30000 trees have to be cut down. This is another project which ended without any results whatsoever.
