Why should anyone invest in Early Childhood Development? Because after years of long-term study, we know investments in early childhood yield high returns— and not only for the children. These returns benefit all of us in the form of lower crime rates, fewer teen pregnancies, and less dependency on welfare programs. Children who enter school healthy and who are mentally and socially ready to learn have higher graduation rates, higher lifetime incomes and are far more likely to become productive members of the Virginia workforce.
