  3. Had enough of shooting numbers, so I've quickly setup the cameras for some quick and dirty Time Slice, A.K.A. Bullet Time. This is obviously very much a work in progress, utilizing cheap cameras, feeding them cheap power, controlled via quick and dirty code, and shooting an overtired subject who has turned slightly insane due to learning Max/MSP and PD all evening...

Despite all this, I'm extremely happy with the result. This technique would be equally powerful for live performance or studio/production work.

Next phase - extending beyond 8 cameras.

  4. The start of our set at Uber nightclub, Brisbane.

Loopus is a live remix band, each of the players are hooked up to loop and cut their live performances both audio and visual. In this video bassplayer Nick Quigley drops a bassline which is layed down for the rest of the band to play and solo over - each player does the same thing to create an evolving jam.

The same concept applies to the visuals - Jaymis is working with instrument mounted cameras, a Vixid vision mixer and Kaos pad video.

  5. Johnny DeKam just finished up a tour doing video for the Glitch Mob. I interviewed him to get some insights into his video performance system. I really appreciate how he takes full advantage of his programming expertise to use the Ohm64's flexibility to create a show control system that incorporates VDMX video mixing software, the Vixid video mixer, and a Max patch to tie everything together. We chatted before the show started, and I shot a video of his explanation of his mappings. Read the full interview at the lividinstruments.com blog.
