The Floridan aquifer is a body of saturated rock beneath the entire state of Florida that stores and filters water. Natural upwelling occurs at various locations known as the Florida Springs. These pristine oases provide local habitat crystal clear fresh water and were once thought to be "fountains of youth" by early explorers such as Juan Ponce de León.
