This is a look at the top women's team for Kai Elua on board their escort boat during this year's Paopao race in Oceanside, CA. The women paddled hard and made a series of great changes in order to win a 3rd place Masters finish (10th overall).

Lanakila had established themselves as the leader by turn two. Heading back to the harbor Lanakila raced with time itself. Meanwhile rounding the second turn NAC and Imua going toe to toe will battle all the way to the finish line. Every now and then one of them would gain a lead of 40 feet at best. These two teams neighbors, rivals,friends fought for nine miles that day with the victory going to NAC by 3 sec.

There are two big races for California - Catalina and The IRONMAN CHAMPIONSHIPS. Poised to win, NAC of Newport has been first for all the 2010 races so far. Imua has been the closest to NAC, losing only the first race by 2 sec. Dana, the winner from 2009, is ready to go until losing top paddler, just before the start. Marina is ready to go and of course, Lanakila.

the day before I shot this video, i was SUP surfing with a couple friends and 2 sharks circled us for about 15 minutes. the next day, i decided to go back out at around the same time and take my GO PRO HD HERO camera (http://www.gopro.com) mounted on a 10 ft pole and do some exploring.
Sure enough within 5 minutes a 9 ft shark came out of no where and circled twice and slapped his tail on my board before disappearing. then a minute later a 7 ft young…
