  5. Disclosure's live performance was filmed at the launch of Curated by Lyle & Scott | yetiinthebasement.com/

I just gave the mic to you, what a mistake, what a mistake’ teases Guy, the older of the two brothers that make up the recently hyped Disclosure. Howard retreats smirking into the chair, unfazed by the no doubt familiar older brother jibes.

It’s entertaining to see two brothers relatively close in age - Guy is 20 and Howard 17 – bounce of each other in an interview. Having both pursued their own preferred genres growing up - Howard confessing to 80’s pop and Guy hiphop - they merged under Burial’s album and were sucked into the 2 step refreshed-garage world. The clipped crisp percussive sounds of Mount Kimbie as well as carefully selected samples, reminiscent of Joy Orbison are echoed throughout their production. Growing up in a musical family they began producing years ago, admitting that family jams were ‘cringey stuff’. It seems it was only when their tastes met that their distinctive style was able to evolve.

Disclosure gives the experimental 2 step production of the last five years, a decent kick, making it much more eligible for dancefloors. Not only that, but they insist on pushing themselves as a live act, feeling that DJs should give more of a performance instead of being pushed behind their decks.

It was Annie Mac who tugged them into the limelight after scooping them under her wing earlier this year, playing out their track ‘Blue You’ and featuring ‘Just Your Type’ as part of her Free Music Mondays. They have been generous with free downloads which has no doubt seen their popularity escalate – don’t miss the free DL of their ‘Work It Out’ remix on their soundcloud. These boys have definitely got big things to come.
