BIO

Carmella Cardina has a wide-ranging background in visual and performing arts. Carmella’s extensive theatre involvement has given her much experience with directing both professional and non-professional actors/talent, developing the remarkable sense of visual acuity that has led to her interest in film. Over the past fifteen years, she has worked in film and video as writer, producer and director. The birth of [chaosfilms,inc], heralds her move toward establishing a signature body of work in the medium of film as well as video. Combining her skills as a director and producer, her editor’s eye, and her accomplished use of available technology, Carmella recognizes the strength of creating a finished product that has the power to both soothe and provoke the viewer into giving their undivided attention to the project and its message. Her vision reflects a rare combination of creativity and business acumen.

[chaosfilms, inc] first project was a short film, “…the fan!” This quirky short has been screened at the 1998 IFFM, Kino Film Festival in Manchester, UK, Kent International Film Festival and the 1998 Spring FlixTour.

Carmella won the reelshort.com online film competition and was honored during the New Directors Short Film Showcase presented by reelshort.com, the American Cinematheque and Universal Pictures.

In 2001, Carmella produced and directed the indie feature, “The Tempest,” based on the play by William Shakespeare. Her latest short film, “Butterflies” screened at the Short Film Corner during the 2008 Cannes International Film Festival.

Carmella is currently developing several feature scripts that include, “Smoke On”, with a possible partnership with Red Bull, “On The Home Front”, a story of the families of our soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, Groupie, a rock and roll teen comedy, a short film, “The Scrapbook”, and two documentaries.
