Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest is the newest sanctuary caring for chimpanzees in the United States. Our mission is to provide lifetime quality care for formerly abused or exploited chimpanzees, while advocating for great apes through education and collaboration. The sanctuary is currently home to a group of seven chimpanzees who came from a biomedical facility in Pennsylvania on June 13, 2008 where they had been kept in a windowless basement.
