Chip has worked with media since he got his first tape recorder around age 10. He recorded TV theme music by attaching alligator clips to the speaker leads. Later in high school he shot Super8 mm film (silent), ran lights and sound in the TC Williams Civic Auditorium, produced slide shows (remember Kodak Carousel projectors?) and shot/developed black & white photos.
He wrote and recorded music using a 2-track ReVox tape recorder and added synthesized overdubs using state-of-the-art (for the time) ARP equipment, during his spare time in the USAF. After service, he interned in the radio unit of the USDA.
His interest in electronics led him to a career in computers, networking, BBS systems and eventually web sites and portals which he supports to this day. His evolving interest in high definition video will be chronicled on Vimeo.
02/21/12] Shot the organic gardening presentations at the St. Andrews Mountain Community Center this past Saturday. The new Sennheiser wireless mike was unusable (constant buzzing; RMA'd back to B&H Photo and received a replacement) so I fell back on the Zoom H4N on a pole stand. Always good to have backup plans, eh what? Not pristine audio but if you pay attention ... most of it is fairly clear. Makes the case for captions tho.
