The HDMI does make a pretty big difference - I'm not a huge fan of HDV compression. Bypassing that preserves the sharpness and color information to work with later in post. There are some still's mixed into the footage (you can probably tell which ones...) which were taken at the same time for a print piece.

    Thanks Jesus,

The song was composed for this piece by a friend of ours - the horizontal movement was achieved with the IndiSlider by IndiSystems - indifocus.com/

Thanks for the feedback - glad everyone likes!

I read up on adapters before buying, but no side by side comparisons. I like the low light loss of the Brevis and it was the right price ;0) Getting my flip and matte box soon.

I recorded directly to my laptop using On Location so no tape used! Looking forward to trying out an IO-HD and a Mac Book Pro for ProRes 4:2:2 recording and bypassing the HDV. Anyone using a setup like that for field recording?

The lens I used was a pretty cheap Canon EFS 17-85mm lens which vignettes pretty bad at 17mm. I was shooting at 1080i and had to crop in to 1280x720 to get rid of the vignette (still didn't get all of it) I'm going back in a couple weeks and I'm going to re-shoot the same scene using a faster 24mm 1.4 L or similar to get the shot at full 1080p. Another struggle was keeping the highlights from clipping. I had to constantly adjust the exposure during the hour and fix the jumps in post to try and hold the highlights as long as possible and still keep detail in the shadows. That little HV20 just doesn't have a ton of latitude... I think I'm also going to try a polarizer / graduated ND filter combo in the matte box to see if that helps with the colors and highlights. Any other tips for my next attempt?
