I shot my first movie when i was 13 on Super 8mm.
Graduated from University of Miami's film school with a BS in Communication shooting 16 mm film on Arri and bolex cameras and editing on flatbeds learning a trade that would soon be obsolete.
I made several films, one of which is still used a s a teaching tool in Professor Capewell’s class introductory to film. Likewise, Paul Lazarus III, head of the film dept. focused on my experience out side the classroom in his book, “working in film – the marketplace in the 90’s,” St. Martin’s Press 1993.
I was hired to Line Produce a low budget feature straight of out college and continued to be a free-lancer for the next decade. I immersed myself in the “film industry” learning every job I could on the set. I was able to gain invaluable set experience and contacts working in a variety of positions from PA to UPM. I also worked as an A.D., Property Master, Location Scout, and Art Director on commercials, music videos and features.
Eventually I teamed up with a Producer and fellow alumni to direct a feature film. DV8 was the original title of this character driven action movie set in Miami and the Caribbean. We were able to raise $100,000 to make our little action flick. It was shot on 16mm in only 15 days with a modest but dedicated crew. We took a trailer of the movie to Cannes to try and raise a bit more money for post, but to no avail. The producer then took the movie to Los Angeles never to be heard from again.
I continued free-lancing on over 25 feature films including Any Given Sunday, Snow Dogs, and Outside Providence and music videos for artists such as Christina Aguilera, Madonna and Dave Mathews. I also directed a television series, “American Hobbies and Pastimes” hosted by John Ratzenberger (Cheers) for the HGTV.
I moved to Los Angeles where I worked on a variety of television shows such as ALIAS, MEDIUM, CSI, and DEADWOOD as a property assistant.
After 3 years in LA, I decided to move to Bend Oregon to work for a small but highly stylized company called Rage Films. Rage started by making extreme action sports films, but formed Rage Productions to make commercials, music videos and documentaries. I am currently working for Rage as a producer, director, writer, editor, camera operator and casting to make cutting edge films and videos.
I am especially excited to be shooting on the Red camera that Rage purchased just this year. I am hoping to bring a feature film to Rage and to Bend, Oregon where permits aren’t required and the locations are endless.
