Chris Reed blogs and writes film reviews at chrisreedfilm.com and is a filmmaker and Chair of the Film/Video Department at Stevenson University (stevenson.edu), near Baltimore. He holds an undergraduate degree from Harvard in Slavic Languages and Literatures (specialization in Russian), a Master's Degree from Yale in Russian and East European Studies (specialization in film), and an MFA from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in Film Production.
Chris is the author of a book on film editing - "Film Editing: Theory and Practice" (amazon.com/Film-Editing-Practice-Digital-Filmmaker/dp/1936420104/ref=tmm_pap_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1331575520&sr=8-2) - published by Mercury Learning and Information as part of its "Digital Filmmaker Series" for high school and college students.
His own focus as a filmmaker has been primarily on documentary and promo work, with some narrative mixed in, and he recently completed a film about the Smith College Book Sale (alumnae.smith.edu/smithcms/baltimore/index.php?page=2011-smith-college-used-book-sale), an annual event that raises scholarship funds for Baltimore-area students to be able to attend Smith College.
Chris is also an experienced lecturer on film history and aesthetics, and frequently leads presentations for Cinema Sundays at the Charles - cinemasundays.com
