Christopher Childs was born in Laurel, Mississippi and raised in Athens, Georgia. His interest in non-fiction filmmaking began during a four-year time period in which he filmed over 15 punk rock bands in and around the Atlanta area. Those early recordings, totaling over 150 concert performances, are currently being shaped into a future project.
In 2005, Christopher graduated from the University of Georgia's Grady College of Mass Communication and Journalism, where he produced, directed and edited a documentary on evangelical professional wrestlers. GOD'S TACKLE BOX screened at numerous film festivals around the country in 2007.
While studying documentary film at the New School in New York City, Christopher worked as the Production Coordinator for Albert Maysles’ (Gimmie Shelter, Grey Gardens, Salesman), Maysles Films.
Christopher graduated from The New School’s media studies master’s program in 2008, where he edited a documentary exploring identity establishment of identical twins. DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE...premiered in California in 2007 and premiered as part of the New Director’s Series at the Anthology Film Archives in April 2008. Shortly there after, the film aired on the Documentary Channel.
Since moving back to the South in late 2008, Christopher has produced numerous short films, music videos, and documentaries. His work has recently screened as part of the Athens Picture Show and 6x6 Media Arts Events.
