Now now, there's a few of us who try making our patches look pretty.

Check the UBC Toolbox debussy.music.ubc.ca/muset/toolbox.html for some decent-looking, and very useful, patches (there aren't mine).

Crazeynate (however is spelt) is the best word I have heard this year. Very cool video. Thanks for sharing. Is this for something (maybe a university project)?
  • The Amazing Rolo 1 year ago
    CRAZINATE! who's gonna design a t-shirt?!

This is a project that I had wanted to do since the wii came out, and I ended up tailoring it to fit an assignment for a class at the University of Edinburgh, where I'm doing a masters degree in Sound Design.

    whoa. Right on! Nicely done.

What language did you write this in?
  • trp0 1 year ago
I can envision a whole new career option for people with epilepsy.
  • The Amazing Rolo 1 year ago
I made this with Max/MSP, which is probably the simplest way to go about it. You can learn about it at cycling74.com
  • trp0 1 year ago
Max/MSP looks like an interesting project. Using it with the wiimote is a cool idea.

Most of the guys on my degree course would go nuts for this....one of the few times ive seen a MAX patch put to great use!
    Sweet!

    This is so cool...!
I had a vision of everyone of a dancefloor grooving about with wiimotes in their hands. Pretty chaotic probably, but workable! Interactive parties!
  • The Amazing Rolo 1 year ago
    whoa!! awesome idea!
  • Charlie Trotter 1 year ago
Oh my word, that idea breaks my mind.

great concept! I can see all the dj's in the future swinging wiimotes around on stage like glow-sticks haha! Great work

Amazing...you have the ability to control sound by interacting with space--as with a theramin--but that's only one layer of your control...and it can alter as well as create sounds.

Thanks so much for all the great comments, the response for this has been rather overwhelming! Hopefully I'll be able to post some videos of this software in action at a gig in the near future.

awesome. when someone gets really tight with it it'd be great to see a giant dance party with the performer running around in the crowd with the controller.

I really like this 'cause I am a musician, and I just got a Ts-1000 keyboard for christmas, and I want to mix in my flute and guitar
  • The Amazing Rolo 1 year ago
whoa cool! if you use my software i would love to hear the results! i hope to make a live input system in the next version that would be awesome for you.
  •
  • staceyv 1 year ago
you should do this live. I could watch this all day!
  •
  • efeele 1 year ago
You should get some dancers, and hide the Wii in their clothing. Watch the music shift with each of their bodys' complex movements. Or, cover the Wii with some glowing material, then turn off the lights. It would have to glow to really get people's attention in a club.
