The ever expanding Coastalwatch team are an experienced eclectic bunch.
A broad cross section of individuals comprised of oceanographers, ex pro surfers, swell forecasting gurus, surf mag editors, online technicians and company directors all work as a team with the common goal of trying to improve the Coastalwatch service daily.
Whether we are assisting government agencies with our coastal zone management data regarding shoreline position, climate change and rising sea levels or monitoring beach safety, swell forecasting, providing daily surf reports or reporting on highlight swells, our crew are on it 24/7.
Coastalwatch is committed to bringing the coast to a broad cross section of Australians and overseas visitors. Our goal is to make a significant contribution to more timely and safer coastal use and more efficient and cost effective coastal management. Coastalwatch actively supports community groups and/ or charities such as The Surfrider Foundation Australia, SurfAid International, Surf Life Saving Australia and Volunteer Rescue Organisations.
We have also developed a sophisticated Coastal Conditions Monitoring System. (CoastalCOMS) is an automated observation system for coastal monitoring. The system is comprised of Coastalwatch’s shore mounted video camera network along with high tech image processing routines for analysis and display of coastal environment information.
We also have an army of contributing photographers ranging from the absolute best in the business right down to local happy snappers with cheap digital point and shoots. We value all our contributors highly but can’t possibly mention them all here, but of course we go to great lengths to credit all pics that appear on the site and pay for all photos used.
