Dubbed the “Alice Waters of Booze,” by the Bay Area's booze enthused journalists, cocktail maven Alberta Straub has been in the business of making sublime drinks for more than 9 years. Like her namesake, Alberta is known for her commitment to using fresh ingredients, classic preparation techniques, and innovative original recipes, all of which, when behind the bar, she would customize to taste for her loyal clientèle. This “extra-care-service” style derived from her passion for vintage Airline memorabilia, and was also the source of her lasting nome de plume, “your Flighty Hostess” or Simply “Miss Flighty,”
Miss Flighty” Straub has been profiled in Esquire, Gourmet, CHOW, Common Ground, SF Weekly, the San Francisco Chronicle, La Toque, Imbibe and 7X7. She was the recipient of the SF Weekly Best Bartender award in 2004, and is mentioned in a number of ‘Best of San Francisco’ guides, now is the hostess of her own online instructional mixology show, “Cocktails on the Fly” (cocktailsonthefly.tv) .
