About the Director:
Director David Rousseau is making moves in the competitive world of music videos. His eye for capturing the performance energy of artists combined with sleek imagery, bright colors and innovative graphics, has made him one of the most sought-after video directors of today.
David transitioned into music video production after a successful career in broadcast television where his talents earned him four prestigious Emmy Awards. Born in Caracas, Venezuela to Cuban parents, and raised in Miami, David’s love for merging music with film emerged at a young age. The son of a musician who wanted him to attend college and study medicine or law, the young director instead set his sights on making a career at his passion.
That dream became a reality in 2008, when he launched CreativeSeen, a production company devoted to music video and commercial production. In a short timeframe, he’s managed to work with some of the biggest names in music – Lil Wayne, Birdman, Enrique Iglesias, Pitbull, Lil Jon, NeYo, Nicki Minaj, Akon, Fat Joe, T-Pain, LMFAO, and Jadakiss – directing videos that have appeared on all major video networks, including MTV, BET and FUSE.
Record-Setting Videos:
David’s credit list includes worldwide smash, “I Know You Want Me (Calle 8)” for Pitbull, an international hit video which garnered over 193 million hits on You Tube, making it one of the site’s most popular clips of all time. He’s directed virtually all music videos for Pitbull, including the video for his latest hit single with NeYo, “Give Me Everything” and club-bangers “Bon Bon” and “Hey Baby” featuring T-Pain; a video that premiered on the 40-foot tall Kodak Screen in New York City’s famed Times Square. David also directed “Hotel Room Service” and “Shut it Down,” a mini-movie with Pitbull and Akon, which became a global sensation and played throughout the MTV networks.
In 2010, David directed (and co-directed, alongside music-video legend Jeffery Panzer) a string of record-setting music video shoots for Lil Wayne and Cash Money Records. The productions garnered global news coverage, including placements in Rolling Stone and Billboard magazines. MTV News also closely followed and reported on CreativeSeen’s neck breaking filming of twelve videos over one weekend. Later that year, David directed the first video for the “Jersey Shore” soundtrack, “I Like It,” by Enrique Iglesias featuring Pitbull. The video was an instant hit on MTV; it became a summer sensation, and was nominated for a 2010 MTV Music Award for “Best Dance Video.” It also became #1 video on MTV.com, and subsequently, David was asked to direct the second single from the Jersey Shore soundtrack, this time for Lil Jon and 3oh!3, for their song, “Hey!” The video premiered worldwide on “Jersey Shore 2.”
David also directed “Roger That,” a music video for Lil Wayne’s Young Money super group, featuring breakout artist Nicki Minaj and Tyga. The video topped the charts at #1 on BET’s “106 & Park,” and was nominated for an MTV2 Sucker Free Award. Yet another video from the director, “Loyalty,” for Birdman, also matched that feat by placing #1 on “106 & Park.”
In January 2011, Rousseau announced his company’s new rock division, CreativeSeen Rocks. For this new project, he teamed up with Fabio Jafet, an award winning director and editor, who has worked with KISS, Skid Row, Magna-Fi and more. The idea for this new venture came to Rousseau organically saying, “I’m a huge rock fan, and in the process of branding and expanding CreativeSeen, it seemed like a natural evolution to start CreativeSeen Rocks.” CreativeSeen Rocks recently filmed a commercial for ESP guitars, featuring Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist Gus G.
Always ahead of the curve, David’s use of new high-tech video production technology like Assimilate SCRATCH is one of the reasons why CreativeSeen and CreativeSeen Rocks remain fierce competitors in the video-making marketplace.
Additionally in 2011, David directed two enormously successful music videos for Mr. Worldwide himself, Pitbull. The first was ‘”Give Me Everything,” which became Pitbull’s first Billboard #1 song. The video was also a worldwide smash, earning two MTV Music Video Awards nominations, including one for “Best Pop Video.” The second video, “Rain Over Me” for Pitbull f/Marc Anthony, was filmed on location in the dessert in Palm Springs, California.
