Cryptic is an internationally-renowned producing art house, creating a lasting artistic legacy by presenting high-quality, innovative work.

Cryptic ‘ravishes the senses’ with each performance, project and event. It presents today’s most imaginative and creative artists from around the world while also nurturing emerging Scottish artists.

Founded in Scotland by Artistic Director Cathie Boyd in 1994, Cryptic has quality, innovation and internationalism at its core. With a track record of producing award-winning work, commissioning and presenting artists from all over the world, Cryptic tours nationally and internationally, having presented in 17 countries.

Recognising the need for a regular, supportive platform for emerging artists with fresh ideas, Cryptic launched Cryptic Nights in 2009. To date, more than 85 artists have been showcased at CCA, Glasgow. Crossing creative boundaries with live music, visual and sonic art, film and new media. Cryptic Nights aims to present a selection of the highest quality emerging talent to inspire, invigorate and excite across the UK.

Having established a global reputation as pioneers in their field, Cryptic has been commissioned by leading international arts festivals and has performed in over fifteen countries worldwide. Highlights include the Singapore Arts Festival, BITE at the Barbican, London and the Edinburgh International Festival.
