Chloe Walters-Wallace Plus
Chloe Walters-Wallace has been blurring the lines between art and documentary for the last 5 years. Born to a family of local filmmakers in her mother country Jamaica has instilled a lifelong passion for film, people, the idiosyncracies of life. A graduate of theatre and anthropology from Barnard College in New York, Chloe has performed in classical shows such as "Medea" & "The Marriage of Figaro" and evolved to do more experimental work such as "What You Need- A Play about Rape" and finally her one woman show- "Entertaining Anthropology- A Critical Look at the Prejudiced History of the Anthropological Practice." Both latter productions consisted of one on one personal interviews transformed into performance, inspired by the work of Anna Deavere Smith. After graduating in 2007, following her wish to provide her subjects with more direct agency, Chloe began to work in documentary film. Chloe has made two short documentaries- "Owning the Oasis" and her most recent work, "Tsunami Scarecrow". Currently, Chloe is conducting fieldwork for her final dissertation titled "The Country of Contradictions: Contemporary Jamaican Art, Identity and Blackness" in the Material & Visual Culture MA at University College London in the UK.
