Cynthia Long was elected as Williamson County Commissioner for Precinct Two in November 2006. Prior to being elected as County Commissioner, she worked in various technical positions before moving into IT management for the State of Texas, where she worked for ten years. In 1997, she started her own IT consulting company, which focused on information technology and project management.

Commissioner Long has been active in the community since moving to Williamson County in 1988. She was elected twice to the Cedar Park City Council, during which time she served as Mayor Pro-Tem, and also served on the Cedar Park Planning and Zoning Commission as well as the Round Rock Medical Center Board of Directors. Additionally, Commissioner Long served on the Williamson County Metro YMCA Board and was the founding Chairman of the Twin Lakes Family YMCA. Commissioner Long was also the Vice Chairman of the Williamson County Republican Party for three years. Currently, Commissioner Long serves on the Board of Directors for the Cedar Park Regional Medical Center.

Since taking office in January 2007, Commissioner Long was elected Vice-chair of the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) Transportation Policy Board; appointed to Chair the CAMPO Transportation Finance Committee; and currently serves on the Capital Area Planning Council of Government (CAPCOG) Executive Committee. Commissioner Long is the executive sponsor of the Williamson County Public Safety Technology Project.

Commissioner Long is a native Texan. She attended Texas A & M University, and graduated with a BBA in Business Analysis. She and her husband Donn are active members of Hill Country Bible Church. They have been married for twenty-three years, and are the proud parents of one awesome daughter.
