What is a king, exactly? The Encarta dictionary cites one of its definitions as “preeminent man: the principal man or preeminent male figure in a field.”

In the field of pop music, David John is THE preeminent man, and
with the release of his breakthrough debut album, “The New King of Scotland” music fans worldwide are given access to play in his court. After an early stint with the international pop group Right Now, became an instant hit in the UK in 2006, David John decided to launch his career as a solo artist. Realizing that he had created his own lane in the pop music, he sought to bring his authentic original Scottish sound and scratchy vocals to the U.S. to collaborate with hit producers and songwriters over high-energy, pulsating beats.

After signing with independent New York-based record label Pure
Chuffed Entertainment in 2008, he started work on his new album, collaborating with songwriter Jayshawn Champion (R. Kelly, Faith Evans, Usher) and Corey “Chorus” Gibson (Babyface, P. Diddy, Rodney Jerkins).

In late 2009, David flew to Los Angeles to collaborate with hitmakers REO (Beyonce’s “Hello”) who would produce the hit single "Mrs. Vegas". Having also worked with Ankh Ra (Making the Band) in the studio, his life changed in amazing ways both mentally, spiritually, and physically. This would prove to be a life changing moment, resulting in a powerful performance and arrangement on the international lead single “Try it Again”.
David’s album ”The New King of Scotland”, being released on May 25, 2010 is an upbeat, feel good album.

Having renewed success with his team, relationships and most of all, music, David says, “I sing about real situations in life, that’s what life is about. I want people to relate. Life is too by the books. Just be you and have a good time. I’m looking forward for what’s to come.”
