I believe that the greater the quality--the crispness, the sharpness of an image--the more emotion they convey, be they landscapes of mountain ranges or landscapes of the human face. It is only through clarity--the removal of obstacles between viewer and subject--that we can begin to understand one another, and our relationship with this world we share.
I graduated with a B.A. in history from Grinnell College in 2006, and an M.A. from the University of Missouri School of Journalism in 2012. I believe that finding and developing a narrative and incorporating that thread into my photographs makes them more meaningful and brings people closer to the issues.
