David Max Steinberg
David Max Steinberg is a cinematographer, photographer, and the lead instructor at UCSD's Digital Arts Center where he designed the curriculum for classes in cinematography, lighting, and directing.
He received his Master of Fine Arts degree in 1986 from New York University's Graduate Institute of Film and Television, and his B.A. in Visual Arts from the University of California, San Diego in 1980.
Professional: IATSE Local 600 Director of Photography from New York City, his directorial debut, the feature Severance” (1988), won an invitation to appear in Italy at the Florence Feature Film Festival. It was subsequently picked up for international distribution by Fox/Lorber Associates, Inc. He was signed with the prestigious William Morris Agency. He is an adjunct faculty member at San Diego State University's Department of Theatre, Film and Television.
Preferring work behind the camera, David left the Morris agency and moved to Los Angeles where he photographed features for Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus of Cannon Films. He joined I.A.T.S.E 600 Director of Photography working of a project with Abe Vigoda, Sherman Helmsley and Champion Joe Frazier (directed by Nick Staglioni).
