In 2006 I began study at Arizona State University and my time to date has offered me a strong foundation in international relations, urban development and urban demographics. I strive to develop, attain, and shape my Career. Since backpacking through Europe at the age of eight I have been captivated by the world and its magnetism. In preparation of my future in Public Affairs and International Relations I’ve chosen to pursue Global Studies at ASU. It’s my dream to acquire valuable experiences while contributing to the global community. I have selected Global Studies as my major because I believe it will allow me to attain my goal.
With the turmoil and change present throughout the world it’s necessary to have skills and education which can adapt and change with whatever opportunities are presented. I know that when I enter the global community, I’ll be fully prepared to meet those challenges. Global Studies and my work with the U.S. Consulate have presented me with an international edge. Their training in team building, mediation, negotiation, public speaking, international politics, sociology, and research practices make me an adept and adaptable addition to any team. I hope to further my skills and abilities through this experience and focus on developing skills related to public/corporate interaction.
My experiences during my undergraduate internship abroad have honed my ability to grasp overarching goals, negotiate and prioritize strategic details and accomplish agency objectives. In today’s market there is a need for succinct, careful negotiation and mediation which results in quick results with little blowback. Through my work at the U.S. Consulate General in Milan, Italy I gained an acute perception of the power and effectiveness of proper public/private interface. With fruitful and nimble interaction a result can be efficiently generated with the least amount of compromise. I have an understanding of the public point of view and would like to further my experience in the private sector. My education in Global Studies, combined with the experiences I’ve gained through my work with the State Department will only be augmented by the opportunities offered by this experience. I feel that this experience will emphasize the specifics of public/private interaction from the private point of view.
As I look forward to earning my degree in Global Studies, I’m seeking career building experiences. Through on-site experience I will add further benefit to my employer, bringing my skills, training and experiences to bear in order to benefit the common goal shared between company and employee.
