An advanced placement art student in high school, Dawna won a film scholarship competition and attended Miami International University of Art and Design for 3 years before transferring to Fitchburg State University in 2012, where she will complete her Communications Media degree in 2014. A long-time animal and competition connoisseur, much of her recent work has been about racehorses, including the short documentary "Do You Know the Muffin Man?" about the racehorse-turned-eventer Stud Muffin. While at Fitchburg, she won a funding grant for one of her racehorse documentary pitches, "Lipsticks and Longshots." Currently, she is directing her advanced documentary class project about rescued and rehabbed horses entitled "Roughshod." She loves going to the track when she has time off from her full-time night position at a hospital, and playing with her miniature Australian shepherd Harley.
