The Graduate Thesis film Dead Hearts is set during winter in a fantastical Medieval time period and it tells the tale of a group of soldiers journeying back to their kingdom after a war.  When the film opens we find the group at the precipice of a dense, frozen forest that extends as far as the eye can see.  We join them as they enter cautiously.  Within this forest lives a heartless witch, as beautiful as she is merciless, and cursed with immortality.  Emotionless and cold as ice, the witch spares no life that enters her frozen forest.  When Jon, one of the soldiers, encounters the witch, he falls in love. Despite knowing that by loving her he will lose his heart, he follows his love, telling her, "life without love is not worth living."  The tale follows this brief but passionate romance, and explores how Jon's transformation effects both him and the fate of his men.  Ultimately, the story explores the sacrifice Jon makes for love and leaves him, and us, wondering if it was all worth it...
