Allard Detiger is a Dutch documentary filmmaker who finished the school of the Arts of Utrecht in 2003. After that he made several documentaries, a lot of them situated in Russia. ‘We love Putin’ (2003) a film about the popularity of Vladimir Putin and how people see him as a popster. ‘Kresty, hope dies last’ a documentary about the psychiatric department of the famous Kresty prison in Saint Peter...sburg. ‘Kasparov’s, Other Russia’ (2009) Multiple world champion chess, Garry Kasparov, exchanges the chess game for the political game. This film is a unique personal portrait of Kasparov, a man with ambitions, dreams and ideals. A lot of themes like hero-worshipping, religion and nationalism are combined in his new observational film ‘The New Saint’.
