Drift is a way of driving that has existed for a long time. Even though the first official competitions held in Japan date back to the late 80’s, the first signs of this sport in North America were recorded in the United States in 1996. However, it is only in 2004 that the FormulaD national series appeared in the US. Here in Canada, adepts of this new discipline start to show interest in the sport in the early 2000’s. Even if it’s in 2003 that the first competition of amateur drift took place thanks to DriftNation, the first duel on Quebec soil was organised with the help of Québec Tuning magazine and a few adepts of sideways driving.
