The Giant Panda enclosures at the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center are a hike away from the baby panda and adult panda enclosures. I climbed all the way to the top of a hill to find myself alone staring at the big creatures. All of them were napping except one....

I arrived at the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center during breakfast, which is the best time to watch these funny raccoon like animals destroy some bamboo. They're the cutest darn things in the world!

Instead of staying at a hotel or hostel when I went to Jiuzhaigou, I opted for a homestay that was operated by two brothers, Zhou Ma and Ke Zhu. The Jiuzhaigou Airport is about two hours away from the remote town and the only form of transport to and from is by airport shuttle or taxi. Unfortunately […]

Instead of staying at a hotel or hostel when I went to Jiuzhaigou, I opted for a homestay that was operated by two brothers, Zhou Ma and Ke Zhu. While my resting place was at Zhou Ma's house, Ke Zhu provided the food at his restaurant. Ke Zhu wanted to show me his home renovations and the hut that an […]

I've been following the whereabouts of the cast from my favorite MTV show from the 1990s, "The State," for the past few years. So when I found out that the whole series was being released on DVD (while I was in China), I was more than ecstatic and had to get a copy. An added bonus was learning that the […]

So I can't remember where we were, but I believe it was day two of chugging down the Yangtze River and my adoptive Sichuan family needed a watermelon... STAT! When the boat stopped, the lil sis, Pu Jing, yelled for the watermelon dude and here's what happened.

While on my Yangtze River journey, we stopped off at the Shenglong Stream to experience culture of a minority group called the Tujia. We watched an odd (and very LOUD) performance. One act was a dude who liked to yell while juggle sharp objects. However, toward the end of the show, things go terribly wrong.
