Doug Richards
I first started working with web technology in 1994 as an early adopter of the now legendary Netscape (Mozilla) tool set. Through the 90's I financed my life as an amateur rock star by designing and developing websites and graphics for bands and restaurants. In 1997 I received an invitation to teach English at the University of Guadalajara in Mexico, an adventure that lasted three wonderful years. While in Mexico I developed and implemented a 1st gen web portal system for restaurants and tourist destinations located in Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco and Mazatlan.
Upon my return to the states in early 2000 I continued to push the boundaries of online development for Sprint focusing on creating early multimedia applications. During my tenure I became recognized as an evangelist for Flash through my work with complex action-script applications and early streaming video displayed via the Flash player. I was invited to be a featured speaker at the globally prestigious 2003 HOW Design conference.
In 2004 I was laid-off from Sprint and will it was pretty awful at the time in retrospect it’s probably the best thing that's happened to my professional life. After the lay-off I realized that for years I had been selling my ideas and creations so I rededicated my professional efforts exclusively to selling - a focus I continue with Centriq Training.
At Centriq I am able to leverage my unique experiences, teacher, coach, entrepreneur, writer and technology evangelist into a succinct message of success that is replicable across any sales position. Using a combination of tools and techniques we are helping shift the perception of the sales force as a drain or necessary evil in an organization to a self-sufficient thought leader.
