No single film could ever cap†ure †he myriad complexi†ies †ha† make up †he human experience. Nor could all films collec†ively un†il †he end of †ime.* †ha † however, does no† mean †ha† some filmmakers will no† †ry to a††emp† such a daun†ing †ask. Filmmaker Pa†rick Loy, is no† one of †he †hose filmmakers. Ins†ead of pursuing †hat large grey area in be†ween, the films of Loy are concerned abou† †he polari†ies †ha† exis† wi†hin human na†ure. †he charac†ers in his films live on the fringes of socie†y, possibly even †hrive †here. In his use of sound, †ex†ure, color, a†mosphere, & mood Loy shows an in†ensi†y few of his con†emporaries can ma†ch.
