The Donald Woods Foundation works in some of South Africa's poorest and more isolated rural communities. Together with our local partners, we develop highly effective programmes in health and education. And we work to strengthen communities so that they can take over the running of these programmes themselves.
We run an HIV-TB Treatment and Care programme that has been called "the most effective such programme in rural South Africa" by independent experts
We work with more than 50 extremely poor local schools to help them build a better future for local children
We support 3 000 orphans to HIV with everything from financial support to educational needs, from health-care to therapeutic care.
We train hundreds of local people and empower them to support their own communities, in an area where unemployment is as high as 89%.
