The Eugene Contemporary Chamber Ensemble (ECCE) is a flexible ensemble of talented young instrumentalists that performs in forces ranging from solos to large ensembles. Through dynamic collaborations, community engagement, and innovative concert experiences, ECCE advances the music of our day by creating original concert experiences and by connecting with new audiences. Dedicated to promoting the newest voices of our art, ECCE hosts an open call for scores and presents the music of emerging voices alongside the music of the leading composers of our time.
Since its founding in 2005, ECCE has presented over 60 world premieres in venues around Oregon. ECCE has collaborated with the Eugene Symphony Orchestra, Filmusik, Opera Theater Oregon, Classical Revolution PDX, Duo/Trio/Quattro, the City of Eugene, the University of Oregon School of Architecture and Allied Arts, and many talented musicians, dancers, and visual artists. The group has performed at leading venues in Portland and Eugene, including the Hollywood Theater, the Hult Center for the Performing Arts, the Bamboo Grove Salon, Beall Concert Hall, and other exciting locations in the Eugene and Portland metropolitan areas.
Former directors include founder Jerry Hui, Sam L. Richards, Scott J. Ordway, and Seth Stewart. The ensemble is currently directed by Andrew Stiefel, who joined the ensemble in September 2011.
